Last year, Nafi’s first appearance at the Eugene Diamond League competition was announced with much anticipation and she was pretty disappointed (*understatement*) with the cancellation of most of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 crisis. But this year is different and Nafi finally made her first appearance on US soil as a double Olympic heptathlon champion. However, life does not always goes as planned and, troubled by stiffness in the neck, Nafi could not managed a height in the competition.
Nafi’s participation in Brussels, her last competition of the year, seemed to be in trouble as she was scheduled to compete in the high jump again. However, the Belgian athlete kept her cool and dutifully prepared for a last exploit of the season. In the end, Nafi managed a SB of 1m92 to end her season in front of a home crowd and was immensely cheered on by the Belgian public during and after her competition.
